974 Stadium and Lusail Stadium, venues where Mexico will play in the Qatar 2022 World Cup
November marks the start of the most awaited soccer party of the year and we are more than ready to support the Tricolor, who will face Poland, Argentina and Saudi Arabia, and will seek to qualify to the round of 16.
But have you ever wondered where our Mexican National Team will play, why these sports venues are so new and what makes them so emblematic?
Join us and together we will discover the details that make Stadium 974 and Lusail Stadium unique, venues where technology, engineering and design came together to rewrite sports architecture.
974 Stadium
This is the venue where Mexico will play its first match against the Polish national team. It is a space that echoes sustainable architecture and has an innovative design. Its main quality is its construction itself, since 974 recycled shipping containers were used, which in addition to being part of its structure, were used to transport the materials used for its construction.
Another point to consider about this stadium is that, thanks to its design, it will be the only sports venue in Qatar that will not have air conditioning, since being an open space will allow cross ventilation and its location near the sea will offer a fresh and natural atmosphere.
And, as if that were not enough, the colors selected for this spectacular sports space are not random. On the contrary, each color of container has a special location: the blues indicate food areas; the greens are the security areas; the yellows are the bathrooms; the blacks are the women’s prayer areas; and the silvers are the VIP and men’s prayer areas.

Lusail Stadium
This stadium is the largest in Qatar and will be the venue for two major matches of the Mexican National Team: against Argentina and Saudi Arabia. It will also represent the greatest legacy of this World Cup, the long-awaited final of the World Cup.
Its façade pays homage to the country’s history and culture. It evokes the golden age of Arab and Islamic art, and honors the decorative motifs of ceramic bowls, a representative craft of this region.
In addition, sustainable practices and state-of-the-art materials were used in the construction of this architectural jewel, which will protect the stadium from external agents such as dust and the area’s hot winds.
At the end of the World Cup, Stadium 974 will be completely dismantled and replaced by green areas, while the Lusail will be transformed into a space to serve the community, so that both will leave their mark after the World Cup.
